Questions

What is the difference between Risk, Hazard, Danger, and Harm ?

How can something of this type be explained, when in some occasions the likelihood of a bad outcome, is given as in a period of 200 years or more ?  How can that be related directly, to a human lifetime ?.

One of the things that the events at Fukushima Japan show, is the need for a flexible Emergency plan to deal with the sort of emergency that occurred at Fukushima, as a result of multiple failures !

Serious though the Fukushima events proved to be, they could have been more serious, if that had been so then it is doubtful as to what could have been done to contain a very serious outcome !

In the UK the planning to meet such events that took place at Fukushima, appear shrouded in secrecy. As to what would have happened if there had been such an event  at a UK Nuclear Power Station in the UK, then one is inclined to doubt  the UK capacity to deal with the outcome, other than to say to people “Stay indoors and keep your windows and doors closed” ?

Because of this I say there should be not-be further development of Nuclear Powered Electricity Generation in the UK, until a more robust Emergency plan is in place ! The sort of plan that is required is one to deal with contamination beyond the site-boundaries of the Nuclear sites, and to deal with the civil implications of such contamination !.
